As they celebrate 50 years of business, leaders of The Ice Box, on Walnut Street in South Bend, have announced plans to expand.
They describe the renovations as the biggest since 1999 when they added a second rink to accommodate demand.
As it stands, the economic impact from The Ice Box is more than $14 million every year.
The Ice Box is home to seven varsity high school hockey teams, three junior varsity high school teams, 40 senior league teams, and more than 40 Irish Youth Hockey teams.
