NWI prison guard accused of smuggling contraband into facility

A Northwest Indiana prison guard is accused of smuggling contraband into the facility in exchange for three thousand dollars.
Ashley Watson, who works at the Westville Correctional Facility, is charged with bribery.
An investigation started after the defendant was spotted by a coworker wearing a Smart Watch.
The devices are not allowed in the prison without authorization from the warden.
Investigators searched the watch and noticed that Watson received two thousand dollars from an inmate’s mother.
Her next court date in June 7.
