Pedestrian struck and killed by motorcyclist on County Road 13

A pedestrian was struck and killed by motorcyclist on County Road 13.

The collision happened just before 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sep. 14, on County Road 13, north of County Road 32, resulting in the death of a Goshen man.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by a 51-year-old Goshen man, was traveling northbound when he struck Ray Wenger, 64. The collision took place when Wenger unexpectedly entered the northbound lane directly in front of the man’s motorcycle.

Wenger sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to South Bend Memorial Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced dead. The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken by ambulance to Elkhart General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The motorcycle sustained significant damage to its front end and left side. The motorcyclist was cited, but no additional details have been provided at this time.

Factors into the crash remain under investigation.
