Elkhart County gets a federal grant for children’s mental health

The mental health of children in Elkhart County is getting a big boost from a federal grant.

On Thursday, The Elkhart County Health Department and SOURCE, Elkhart County’s system of care, announced a third expansion grant from the Substance Abuse And Mental Health Services Administration. The grant begins September 30 and will total $4 million over four years.

The grant will focus on helping youths who have experienced a mental health crisis transition to more stability. The plans will benefit children from infancy to teenage years.
