One injured after accidentally shooting gun on IU South Bend campus

One person was taken to the hospital Saturday morning after police say they accidentally fired a gun on IU South Bend’s campus.

Officers were called around 5:45 a.m. to the River Crossing Community on campus for a person who had accidentally fired a gun, causing non-life-threatening injuries to themselves.

A statement issued by the university stated that the individual was not affiliated with IU. They also said the IU Police Department discovered that several cars in the River Crossing Community parking lot had been broken into.

They say there is no threat to campus.
