The Berrien Regional Education Service Agency, or RESA, is working with school and police officials to better plan for school emergencies.

Berrien RESA is working with the “I Love U Guys” Foundation to improve the coordination of emergency responses. WSJM reports that representatives from nearly every school district in the county and each police agency took part in a recent training session to discuss coordinated responses.

Most school lockdowns in Berrien County are the result of hoaxes, but a coordinated response is still helpful for transportation and other factors.

The new partnership aims to fully implement the “I Love U Guys” standard response protocols by July 1, with training sessions planned for the months until then.
