A former Elkhart substitute teacher won’t see any jail time after bringing a gun into a classroom.

41-year-old Marissa Meyer was arrested last May after she accidentally brought a gun into Mary Beck Elementary.

She pleaded guilty to bringing the gun onto school property, stating that it was an accident and that she hadn’t checked the backpack before bringing it.

The judge reduced Meyers felony charge to a misdemeanor and suspended a one-year prison sentence, ordering her to serve a year of non-reporting probation.
