Two brothers from LaPorte were sentenced to prison time after pleading guilty to federal felony charges.

27-year-old Raymond Smith and 25-year-old Bruce Smith allegedly operated a fraud scheme using Indiana mobile sports wagering applications.

They used victims’ personal information, including bank account numbers and passwords and set up accounts in victims’ names on at least eight sports wagering applications.

Using the applications, they were able to transfer money from victims’ bank accounts to themselves.

Reports say they stole over $723 thousand in total from about 60 victims.

Raymond is facing 70 months in prison and two years of supervised release. Bruce was sentenced to 39 months in prison and two years of supervised release.
