A trial date has been set for a man accused of stealing a car out of Michigan.

Reports say the vehicle was stolen at a gas station when the owner left it running. Elkhart Police attempted a traffic stop on County Road 17 and Beck Drive last week on a stolen F-150, though the vehicle took off.

The Goshen News says that while fleeing, the truck was struck after plowing through a red signal at the intersection.

Police say Daniel Starcher had stolen it and brought it home to pick up his dog before the crash. He admitted to stealing the truck, and his trial date is scheduled for late April.
