Another Safe Haven Baby Box has been installed in Elkhart County. The new box, at the Middlebury Fire Department, is the fourth in Elkhart County and the only one in the northeast portion of the county.
An official blessing for the box took place on Monday, April 14.
The Safe Haven Baby Box organization’s primary goal is to raise awareness of the Safe Haven Law which allows a person to anonymously surrender an infant up to 30 days old without fear of arrest or prosecution.
