As planting season approaches, State Troopers are reminding motorists to watch for farm equipment on roads.

They say to slow down, be alert and be patient as large, slow-moving farm equipment travels on Indiana’s rural roads and highways. In 2022, 11 people were involved in crashes with farm equipment in the state.

They say farmers will pull over to let motorists pass, but it may take time for them to get to a safe place to do so.

Some farm equipment is wide and may take up most of the road, so be careful when passing, and do not pass in a designated “No Passing Zone.”

Avoid tailgating, as some farm equipment might have to make sudden stops along the road. And, as always, allow for plenty of time to reach your destination.
