An elderly man died after a single-vehicle crash on the city’s northwest side.
South Bend Police responded to the 3300 block of Portage Road shortly after 12:30 p.m., on Tuesday, June 17, where they found a vehicle that had collided head-on with a utility pole.
Investigators believe the driver, a man in his 80s, may have suffered a medical emergency before veering off the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
