Motorcyclist killed in Granger crash identified; Investigation ongoing

The South Bend man killed in a crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle at the intersection of State Road 23 and Birch Road in Granger has been identified.
The collision happened last Thursday afternoon. Authorities say  39-year-old Alexander J. Neland died at the scene.
According to initial findings, a 56-year-old South Bend woman was trying to turn left onto State Road 23 when she turned into the path of Neland’s motorcycle.
She suffered minor injuries and cooperated with authorities. Investigators say there were no immediate signs of impairment.
The crash remains under investigation by The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team.
