Indiana Department of Child Services launches ‘Awaken’ program

The Indiana Department of Child Services is undergoing a major overhaul, launching the ‘Awaken’ project to better protect and serve Hoosier children and families.
Governor Mike Braun’s initiative aims to streamline the agency by cutting upper management, reducing its 18 regions down to just five, and refocusing resources directly to frontline services like foster care.
The goal is to enhance communication and recruit more family case managers, ultimately improving the quality of service.
