A 35-year-old Elkhart shooting suspect appeared in court last week.

The Goshen News says Nicholas Stanley is accused of the shooting death of Allen Cogswell, a convicted sex offender.

It happened at the Daylite Inn when witnesses say a man with a gun knocked on Cogswell’s door before opening fire.

Cogswell had recently been released from prison, and Stanley is related to a victim of his. Stanley’s trial dates are currently scheduled for September and October.
