The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians has begun construction on a sewer and water project.

It’s designed to modernize infrastructure, support growth, protect the environment and enhance safety in the township and in Dowagiac.

The project will provide sewer service to the Pokagon government campus, extend water and sewer service to the Dowagiac Four Winds Casino, offer some residents water and sewage connection and install fire hydrants along M51.

It’s been in the plans since mid-2023, though construction officially began this month. The project should be done by the end of next year.
