City leaders in LaPorte are testing new traffic measures downtown to improve pedestrian safety.
Crews added bright orange markings and traffic delineators along State Road 2 to slow drivers and create a more walkable area.
The City of LaPorte and INDOT collaborated with engineers to design the changes.
While some drivers pushed back, officials say the effort protects people crossing downtown. Drivers passing through the city’s heart cannot miss the new markings.
