A fatal accident in Elkhart County claimed the life of a 77-year-old Goshen man.

Authorities say the incident happened just before 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, on County Road 13, near Wilshire Boulevard.

Police say a 41-year-old Goshen man was driving a 2018 Ford F-150 northbound when he struck a pedestrian with his truck’s passenger side mirror.

The victim, identified as Jose Guillen Guevara, was walking along the east side of the road when he reportedly stepped into traffic.

Guevara suffered a severe head injury and died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was not hurt. The crash caused only minor damage to the truck.

The investigation is still ongoing.
