Indiana Republican Senator Jim Banks is weighing in on President Trump’s cabinet picks.
Banks spoke in an interview with WIBC’s Hammer and Nigel on Thursday, saying that while the House of Representatives has already started its August recess, the Senate is continuing to work to confirm as many nominees as possible. He explained that Democrats are using procedural tactics to slow down the process, preventing the swift confirmation of nominees in bipartisan packages.
“All of these confirmations have time limits on the floor,” Banks says. “In normal times, whether it’s the Democrat president or Republican president, there would be bipartisan support for pushing through packages of a dozen, two-dozen, or more nominees at a time.”
Banks argued that Democrats are trying to unfairly impede President Trump’s ability to assemble his team and govern effectively by obstructing the confirmation process.

There should be 100% continuous US Senate session until ALL of President Trumps nominees are confirmed. PERIOD! IF democrats want to play the obstruction game them play it hard with them.
Banks is so MAGA. He will do what ever Trump say. He does not listen to his constituents nor does he respond to any of their concerns. Written, emailed and called his office so many times I lost count, but only responded one time. He needs to go when reelection time comes.
I agree, he needs to go. A presidents nominees are not supposed to be rubber stamped. They are evaluated by the Senate and determined to be appropriate or not. Regardless of the fact that Republicans have the majority and will attempt the rubber stamp method regardless of the circumstances Democrats have been doing their job in actually doing their research and questioning the nominee then voting appropriately. The only thing Republicans worry about is making Trump happy. Whatever he tells them to do they do without even a conscience. It’s a step closer to authoritarianism. If the Senate blindly does whatever Trump wants what is the reason to even have them? They’ll be on his list to get rid of someday, you can bet..
But we definitely need to get rid of Banks. He doesn’t care what his constituents want. He only cares what Trump wants.
Where was your outrage when the Dems rubber stamped Biden’s nominees? Obama’s?
The fact is, most people voted for Trump and most people support his picks. The Senators playing games need to go.
The reason Senate confirmation votes should be well thought out and not rubber stamped or lumped into packages is that sometimes Presidents nominate people who meet their own individual aspirations but are not well enough qualified to meet the needs of the people.
