Alcohol appears to be a factor in a crash that injured a young man in Elkhart County.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened just before midnight on Friday night, Aug. 8, at the intersection of County Road 23 and County Road 102, about two miles north of Bristol.

Deputies say a 42-year-old Bristol woman was driving a 1990 Ford Mustang, westbound, on County Road 102 when she failed to stop at a stop sign at County Road 23. The car left the road and struck a tree.

A passenger, a 22-year-old Elkhart man, suffered a head laceration and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening.

Authorities say the driver was not injured but was found to be impaired by alcohol.
