The South Bend Fraternal Order of Police has issued a strong rebuke about the video posted of a police officer restraining a juvenile after a reported disturbance.
Fraternal Order of Police leaders call the video “gaslighting at its finest,” stating that only 10 seconds of a several minute-long incident is shown and that some people are jumping straight to conclusions without any other tangible facts.
The FOP laid out what they sat happened:  McDonalds called police because they had a juvenile inside their business making threats, causing a problem and refusing to leave.
The juvenile stayed inside the business long enough for police to arrive at which time the teen tried to leave and was stopped by police.
The juvenile refused to comply with officer at which time officer takes juvenile to the ground.
They say the officer didn’t punch, kick or strike the juvenile but was held down for control purposes to prevent injury.
The juvenile was put into the back of a police vehicle without handcuffs.
The juvenile was then taken home and released to a guardian.
The FOP calls it unfortunate the same community members being the loudest about the video don’t put forth this much effort when juveniles are subjected to actual gun violence.
