Republican candidate David Shelton is pushing back after Beau Bayh officially entered the race for Indiana Secretary of State. Speaking from his apartment, Shelton questioned Bayh’s residency and experience.
“It shouldn’t be a surprise,” Shelton said. “Bayh only re-registered to vote in Indiana on October 2, 2025, after being moved to inactive twice. Many of his absentee ballots have even been mailed to Massachusetts and Washington, D.C.”
Shelton said Indiana needs a Secretary of State who actually lives in the state and manages elections directly, not someone relying on a “famous last name.” He also criticized political nepotism, saying voters deserve “professionalism over family connections.”
Shelton, who has served nearly seven years in elected office, says he’s helped dozens of counties modernize their elections and has national recognition for his work. He also owns a small business and has more than 25 years of experience as a licensed private investigator and fraud specialist.
“I’m the most qualified candidate in years,” Shelton said. “Voters deserve experience, integrity, and results-not scandals or political legacies.”
