GenderNexus files records request seeking Gov. Braun, BMV ommunications on proposed gender marker rule change

(95.3 MNC)
Indiana nonprofit GenderNexus has filed a public records request under Indiana’s Access to Public Records Act seeking written correspondence between Gov. Mike Braun’s office and the Bureau of Motor Vehicles regarding a newly proposed rule that would eliminate the process for updating the gender marker on a state-issued ID card.
The request covers communications between January 1 and November 5, 2025, and specifically asks for records that reference the BMV’s process for making this new rule and communications referencing words and concepts like “gender identity” or “transgender.”
