St. Joseph County Council approves resolution on future of Portage Manor

The St. Joseph County Council voted 6-3, this week, to approve a resolution on the future of Portage Manor. The move allows county commissioners to explore a proposal for a local Catholic school to take over the building and its financial responsibilities.
Several council and community members urged a more formal open-bidding process.
In other action, the council unanimously approved a county health department ordinance allowing tougher regulations for massage parlor establishments.
