An Elkhart man has been sentenced for breaking into a home and stealing electronics earlier this year.

Police say the victim returned to his Cobus Ridge Lane residence on January 3 and found a young man in his basement.

A Nintendo Switch, games and a laptop were also missing. Surveillance video from a neighbor’s home showed packages being taken as well.

Officers later found the stolen Switch listed on Facebook Marketplace and arranged a meeting with the seller, identified as Jesus Enrique Garcia.

After a search warrant, Garcia admitted entering unlocked homes to steal items. The Goshen News says he was sentenced to six years, with two suspended, for Level 4 felony burglary, plus concurrent misdemeanor theft sentences.
