AAA is once again rolling out its life-saving Tow to Go program to help reduce impaired driving during the busy holiday season, offering free rides and vehicle tows to keep motorists off the road when it’s unsafe to drive.
The program will be available from 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025, through 6 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, in select states, including Indiana.
Tow to Go provides a free, confidential ride and tow for impaired drivers and their vehicles to a safe location within a 10-mile radius. The service is open to both AAA members and non-members and is intended as a last-resort option when other plans-such as a designated driver or rideshare-are unavailable.
“The holiday season is a time for joy and celebration, but it also carries a greater risk of impaired driving,” said Molly Hart, spokesperson for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “AAA urges Hoosiers to plan ahead and make responsible choices to keep the holidays both safe and festive. Tow to Go is our gift to the community, ensuring everyone gets home safely to enjoy the holidays with their loved ones.”
In Indiana, the Tow to Go program will be available in Fort Wayne and South Bend, along with service areas in Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, North Dakota, Nebraska, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Colorado (Denver), and North Carolina (Charlotte). Drivers needing assistance can call (855) 2-TOW-2-GO when the service is active. The program cannot be scheduled in advance and is intended only as a backup plan.
AAA says the initiative is especially critical during the holidays, noting that alcohol-impaired driving is involved in nearly one-third of all U.S. traffic fatalities. In 2023 alone, more than 12,000 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes, averaging one death every 42 minutes.
Through its “Crashes Hit Different” safety campaign, AAA emphasizes that every statistic represents a real person whose life-and the lives of their loved ones-can be permanently changed. The organization says programs like Tow to Go help prevent these tragedies by giving impaired drivers a safe alternative to getting behind the wheel.
