Senate Bill 62, proposed in the Indiana General Assembly 2026 Session, aims to address youth illegally possessing guns by potentially waiving them to adult court and imposing enhanced penalties for gun crimes near schools.
SB 62 would also rename the crime of “dangerous possession of a firearm” to “unlawful possession of a firearm by a child” and increase penalties for offenses near school properties.
