The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department says a man was arrested Tuesday evening after a violent domestic disturbance that escalated into an attack on deputies.

Around 8:30 p.m., deputies responded to a home in the 6000 block of State Road 17 following a report of a man strangling a woman in front of a child.

Investigators say 31-year-old Joshua Hostetler attempted to batter deputies upon their arrival and resisted law enforcement, allegedly trying to assault them with a deadly weapon.

Deputies were able to take Hostetler into custody, and he was transported to the Marshall County Jail. Hostetler faces multiple charges, including attempted battery with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness, domestic battery with a child present, strangulation and resisting law enforcement. His bond was set at $10,000.
