Hundreds of people are expected to take part in the annual March for Life South Bend on Friday, Jan. 23, coinciding with the National March for Life in Washington, D.C.

The events mark the week in 1973 when Roe v. Wade was decided and serve as a remembrance of lives affected in the 53 years since. Organizers say the South Bend march reflects continued local support for pro-life advocacy.

The South Bend event will begin with an 11:30 a.m. rally at “The Hall,” located at 533 E. Washington St. A local nurse and mother is scheduled to speak about raising a child with Down syndrome and the value of human life. Local pastors will also lead prayer.

The march will step off at noon and proceed peacefully through downtown, concluding at 1 p.m. with prayer and public witness.

The march will also wrap up the local “Stuff-a-Truck for Moms and Babies” campaign, which collects baby supplies and maternal care items for distribution to pregnancy centers across Michiana. Donated items can be brought to the march or dropped off at the Right to Life Michiana office, 2004 Ironwood Circle, Suite 130, in South Bend.
