Controversial ‘point of view’ assignment draws concern from Elkhart parents

A 4th-grade assignment at Pinewood Elementary asked students to imagine disliking a Black student just because of their skin color.
The task used Ruby Bridges’ story-the first African American girl to attend an all-white school in the South-but told students to write from the perspective of a white student hating her.
One family said it made their child uncomfortable.
The child’s dad, Cian Armstrong, said kids should learn to treat everyone fairly and that this assignment wasn’t right.
The school said it came from one teacher and didn’t follow district rules, and the situation has been addressed.

This is very bad for the EC school system. This is NEVER appropriate. Parents must remain very vigilant because one never knows when a rogue teacher or other school employee will try to hijack your child’s brain.

ECS is NOT your grandpa’s school system these days. They do not have you best interest at heart..
