Teen injured in Elkhart shooting, Police investigating

A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured in a shooting near the intersection of North 6th Street and West Jefferson Street.

According to the Elkhart Police Department, the incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, when a vehicle stopped near the juvenile. Police say one or more suspects exited the vehicle and shot the boy before fleeing the scene.

The victim was transported to a hospital by Elkhart City Fire Department medics and was reported in stable condition.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Elkhart Police Department at 574-295-7070 or Michiana Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP.
