The Indiana House Education Committee has advanced a bill to ban cell phones and smartwatches for the entire school day.
Unlike the current law, which only covers class time, Senate Bill 78 would require devices to be put away from the first bell to the last.
State Representative Vernon Smith, a former principal, says the ‘all-day’ ban will boost test scores and reduce cyberbullying by forcing students to interact face-to-face.
