Police investigate early-morning shooting on Virginia Street in Elkhart

Police are investigating a shooting that left a 20-year-old man injured in Elkhart.

According to the Elkhart Police Department, officers were dispatched just after 3 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, to the 500 block of Virginia Street after a 911 caller reported a shooting with injuries.

When officers arrived, they found a 20-year-old male inside an apartment suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers provided first aid until medics from the Elkhart Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital. His current condition has not been released.

Investigators collected evidence at the scene.

Police say the case remains active and ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
