A Goshen man was arrested following a rollover crash that left an 8-year-old boy with serious injuries.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 7:10 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, along County Road 30, west of 25221 CR 30, approximately six miles from the Goshen city limits.
Authorities say 28-year-old Victor Millan Soto, of Goshen, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu eastbound on County Road 30 at a high rate of speed when he attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. Investigators say he lost control of the vehicle, which rolled multiple times before coming to rest on its roof.
Millan Soto suffered facial lacerations and bruising across his body.
An 8-year-old passenger sustained severe injuries, including multiple brain bleeds, skull fractures, and a laceration to his left leg. He was initially transported to Elkhart General Hospital before being transferred to Memorial Hospital of South Bend for further treatment.
During the investigation, deputies say Millan Soto showed signs of intoxication, failed field sobriety tests, and later registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.110 on a certified breath test.
Millan Soto was taken into custody and booked into the Elkhart County Jail on preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated, causing bodily injury, operating while intoxicated with a passenger under 18, reckless driving, and neglect of a dependent.
