A man has been sentenced in Elkhart County for dealing methamphetamine.

Manuel Sanchez was sentenced by plea agreement to 18 years, with eight years to be served at the Indiana Department of Corrections, five years on Elkhart County Community Corrections, and five years on probation.

Additional charges were dismissed as part of the agreement. According to court documents, Sanchez was stopped by police on the U.S. 20 bypass in Elkhart in October 2024 for a traffic violation and driving while suspended.

During an inventory search, officers discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

The Goshen News says a K-9 search later revealed more drugs, including 78 grams of meth, along with other controlled substances. Police say Sanchez admitted the drugs belonged to him.
