An Elkhart man has been sentenced after police say he ran from officers and tossed a bag containing methamphetamine.
Schuyler Griffin was arrested last May after officers recognized him near Pike Street and Chicago Avenue and confirmed he had outstanding warrants.
Investigators say Griffin fled on foot around a Walgreens and threw away a bag containing nearly 19 grams of meth before officers caught him.
Griffin later complied with commands and was taken into custody.
The Goshen News says he was sentenced to 10 years for possession of methamphetamine, with part of the sentence to be served through alternative placement and probation.
