Indiana State troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-80/94 on Friday afternoon.
Troopers found a damaged vehicle, as well as the driver, 34-year-old Alejandro Garcia Garcia, walking in traffic injured.
As troopers searched the vehicle, they found a handgun inside, which has been reported stolen out of Nashville, Tennessee. Garcia admitted to firing the weapon before the crash, and troopers say he didn’t have a valid driver’s license.
Garcia also had an active warrant out of Bartholomew County for driving while under the influence.
Several charges were submitted to the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office, and theft was the only charge approved.
