Construction begins on U.S. 31 and State Road 10 intersection project

(Jon Zimney/95.3 MNC)
The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to begin construction June 9 on a reduced conflict intersection at U.S. 31 and State Road 10.
The redesigned intersection is intended to improve safety by reducing the need for drivers to cross high-speed traffic lanes. Instead, motorists will make right turns followed by U-turns to reach their desired direction of travel.
During construction, portions of the northbound and southbound left lanes and shoulders on U.S. 31 will be closed. The median at the intersection will also be closed, limiting access to right-in, right-out movements only from State Road 10.
Detours will be posted for motorists traveling eastbound and westbound on State Road 10. Construction is expected to continue through July.

That is a dangerous intersection, especially with the NB hill before 10. But making it U-turns is just as bad. If you turn right out of the gas station McDonalds onto 31, you will have to immediately get in left lane to U-turn. Dangerous really for semis mostly. Jist put in a 4 way light. There are more useless lights on 31 so whats another.
