City leaders and team officials will celebrate major improvements to Four Winds Field on Thursday evening, June 11, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony ahead of the South Bend Cubs game.
The ceremony is scheduled for approximately 6:50 p.m. and will highlight recent stadium enhancements completed over the past year at the downtown South Bend ballpark.
Among those expected to attend are South Bend Mayor James Mueller, South Bend Cubs owner Andrew Berlin, members of the South Bend Common Council, representatives of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, and officials from JPR, the firm overseeing construction on the project.
As part of the event, Mayor Mueller will present Berlin with the Key to the City in recognition of his investment in the area surrounding the stadium and his role in bringing the Cubs franchise to South Bend.
City officials noted there has been significant development around the ballpark during the past year, including the addition of a new restaurant near the stadium entrance.
