Unidentified body found in Elkhart; Homicide Unit investigating

Authorities are investigating after a deceased individual was discovered in a wooded area on the city’s east side.

According to the Elkhart Police Department, officers were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, after the Elkhart City 911 Communications Center received a report of a body found in the woods near the 2600 block of Links Drive.

When officers and first responders arrived, they located a partially decomposed male body in the wooded area.

The man’s identity has not yet been determined.

The Elkhart County Homicide Unit was activated in accordance with established protocol and has assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Officials say the investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Elkhart County Homicide Unit at 574-295-2825.
