A LaPorte County man is facing charges after deputies say he was waving a chainsaw at passing vehicles in Westville.
Deputies were called to the 6500 block of South U.S. 421 on June 5 after reports of a shirtless man yelling at traffic while carrying an electric chainsaw.
When deputies arrived, they found 40-year-old Matthew Fancher matching the description and took him into custody.
Investigators say a search revealed a container holding suspected methamphetamine in his shorts.
Deputies reported Fancher appeared impaired and later allegedly made bizarre comments about a drone reading his mind.
Testing later confirmed the substance was methamphetamine.
Fancher is charged with disorderly conduct and possession of methamphetamine.
