Construction begins on LaPorte Microsoft data center

Construction has started on Microsoft’s billion-dollar data center in LaPorte.
City leaders and Microsoft officials broke ground Wednesday at the 489-acre site off Boyd Boulevard.
The facility will support the company’s cloud and artificial intelligence operations.
Mayor Tom Dermody said the project will bring jobs, investment and new opportunities to the city.
