St. Joseph County’s Fatal Crash Team is continuing to investigate a deadly crash on South Bend’s east side.

Police say officers were called to the area of McKinley and Manchester just before 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, for a single-vehicle crash. Investigators say the vehicle left the roadway and struck an unoccupied tow truck parked in a nearby lot.

A passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was later arrested and booked into the St. Joseph County Jail in connection with the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
