A Lafayette man was arrested after he was accused of coercing a 16-year-old girl from LaPorte, according to police.

Court documents say the teenager told investigators in May she was coerced into sexual acts with 22-year-old Jacob Newman, who she had met online. As police investigated, they found several videos, texts, and pictures backing up the victim’s allegation.

Newman was taken intop custody on Monday, and he faces several felonies, including sexual misconduct with a minor and child solicitation.
