LaPorte County Deputy reports movement, starts using regular wheelchair

(Photo supplied/Meal Train)
There’s encouraging news for LaPorte County Deputy Jon Samuelson as he continues recovering from being shot in the line of duty in May.
According to an update on his CaringBridge page, Samuelson is spending up to five hours a day in rehabilitation and is beginning to experience tingling and movement in his legs and lower back.
He’s also lifting weights, using a hand-powered exercise bike, working on balance, and has transitioned from an electric wheelchair to a standard wheelchair.
His goal remains the same: walking again.
