Three people injured in early Saturday morning shooting at Eddy Street Commons

Three people were wounded in an overnight shooting at Eddy Street Commons, according to the South Bend Police Department.

Police said officers heard gunfire coming from the Eddy Street Commons area around 1 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8.

Officers found two shooting victims at the scene. One was located near the 1100 block of East Angela Boulevard, while another was found farther south on Eddy Street. Police later learned a third victim had gone to the hospital on their own.

All three suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police said several hundred people were at Eddy Street Commons when the shooting happened. No additional injuries have been reported.

The department’s Violent Crimes Unit is handling the investigation. Detectives are interviewing witnesses and processing evidence as they work to determine what led to the gunfire.
