Silver Beach lifeguard season ends

Beachgoers at Silver Beach County Park are being urged to take extra precautions now that the 2026 lifeguard season has ended.
Berrien County officials remind swimmers that dangerous conditions can develop even when the beach is crowded and the weather appears favorable.
Visitors are encouraged to never swim alone, keep young children within arm’s reach and use life jackets or other flotation devices when appropriate.
Swimmers should also stay out of the water during high waves or dangerous conditions.
With lifeguard season over, Silver Beach will generally only post swim-risk updates on social media when a red flag is issued. Beachgoers are encouraged to check current Great Lakes conditions before entering the water.
