NIPSCO says it could take until next Friday, Aug. 21, to fully restore power across northwest Indiana following Tuesday’s severe weather.
The storms caused the largest outage in the company’s history, leaving more than 300,000 customers without electricity.
NIPSCO says crews have restored power to more than 98,000 customers, including most hospitals in the area.
About 90% of customers had their power back by Tuesday night.
But more than 181,000 customers remain without power as crews continue working to repair widespread damage.
