Body found in Cass County farm field

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a badly decomposed body was found in a farm field.

Deputies were called to the area of McKenzie and Churchill Streets in Volinia Township on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 13, after a landowner discovered the body.

The Michigan State Police Mobile Crime Lab was called to help process the scene. Detectives from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office also assisted.

Authorities have not released the identity of the person or said how they may have died.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation remains ongoing.
