Three Amish children injured in vehicle vs buggy crash

(Ashley Wilkerson/Elkhart Truth)

Three Amish children were hurt when a vehicle hit the back of their horse and buggy in Elkhart County.

The crash happened just before 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, on State Road 13, just south of County Road 32, south of Middlebury.

Police say the driver was looking at a notebook and did not see the buggy ahead of him. Both were traveling south.

Two 11-year-olds and a 2-year-old were in the buggy. One of the 11-year-olds suffered a skull fracture that was not considered life-threatening. The other two children had minor cuts.
